Saturday 23 March 2024 at 10.30am – Castle Hall, Dublin Castle, Dublin 2
The focus of this panel will be a discussion of the five senses (sight, hearing, smell touch and taste) and their relationship with and impact on both the writing process and the readerly encounter with the text. The panel will examine the representation of different sensorial experiences with specific reference to the gustative and the physical. It will also explore the various links between the senses and intensity of feeling, culture and memory and the range of techniques employed by writers with the purpose of stimulating the senses.
Guests: Pascale Pujol, Eimear Ryan, Kim Thuy
