John Banville was born in Wexford in 1945. His
novels include Birchwood, The Book of Evidence, Shroud and
The Infinities. In 2005 he was awarded the Man Booker Prize for
The Sea. He writes crime novels under the pen-name Benjamin
Black, the latest of which is Elegy for April. He reviews
regularly for The Irish Times, the New York Review of
Books and the London Guardian.
