from the École pratique des hautes études under Roland Barthes.  He is accredited to supervise research in the University of Paris 1.  He published his first novel Omnibus (1976) and has devoted  himself entirely to writing since 1982. As a specialist of the Tintin  author, Hergé, he has published three works which have become  classics: Le Monde d’Hergé, Hergé, fils de Tintin and Lire  Tintin, les bijoux ravis.
Since 1983, with François Schuiten, he has been developing the  series Les Cités obscures, fifteen albums alternating between  comic books, illustrated tales and DVDs. They have won many  prizes and have been translated into some ten languages.
