Pat Boran was born in 1963 in Portlaoise and has long since lived in Dublin where he has worked      as       an        editor,

broadcaster, writer-in-residence and publisher. His most recent publication is The Invisible Prison, a memoir of growing up in small-town Ireland. He has published five collections of poems and New and Selected Poems (2005, reissued 2007). Other publications include the popular writers' handbook, The Portable Creative Writing Workshop. He is a member of Aosdána and received the 2007 Lawrence O'Shaughnessy Award for Poetry.
